The 2014 QX60 Hybrid from Infiniti
Working hard on its branding renovation, Infiniti has recently announced that it would be releasing a new hybrid crossover set to debut at the New York Auto Show at the end of March.
Named the QX60, this 2014 Infiniti model features Infiniti’s Direct Response Hybrid motor and two-clutch system adapted to front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. With these two features in play, Infiniti hopes to push the QX60’s fuel economy to best-in-class. Expect the QX60 to get around 26 miles per gallon which is amazing for any crossover, let alone a 7-passenger luxury crossover.
Infiniti hopes to release the hybrid QX60 into their lineup this summer along with the previously announced newbie, the Infiniti Q50- which is replacing the G sedan. Previously the JX35, the QX60 was produced to continue the crossover’s reign as Infiniti’s 2nd best selling vehicle behind the G line.
With its release, Infiniti will be able to boast three hybrid vehicles in their lineup including the Q50 hybrid and the Q70 hybrid. Its MSRP is projected to be only $3,000 above its non-hybrid counterpart. Infiniti created this vehicle in order to extend driving rage, enhance duel economy and reduce emissions without adding a major price increase to the line.
Powering the QX60 is a 2.5-liter supercharged engine and a 15 KW electric motor connected to a CVT Net system which allows the hybrid crossover to get around 250 horsepower. The new hybrid also uses a regenerative braking system, meaning that the battery partially recharges during vehicle breaking.
With Infiniti placing added emphasis on technology, expect the QX60 to offer a wide range of standard and available amenities like Backup Collision Intervention system and more.
We will update with more information about the vehicle’s features and pricing after its official media unveiling on March 27, 2013.
